First off, going to school and getting two degrees? Whew, child, it was a journey. I failed, succeeded, lost money, and gained it back, sometimes all in one semester. And honestly, there were days when I had no clue what I was doing (especially in chemistry and neuropsychology). I kept pushing anyways, because of course giving up wasn’t an option.
I went to school for criminal justice with a minor in psychology, at THE University of Alabama… loved loved loved it! The goal was to become a CSI, but I was told I probably should’ve went the biology route. It was hard finding a job in my field… especially when jobs wanted you to have experience. Well, where do you get experience from without a job?
Internship you said? Well… yes, but then how would you survive maintaining certain credit hours a week without income? Exactly. You literally have to know people that know people to get you in the door… and we all know how that works (roll eyes).
Oh… and did I mention I had a daughter a year before graduation? Yeah, life threw me a curveball with a beautiful blessing… she lit a fire in me, showing me that I had to carve out my own path, OUR path. She was my greatest challenge and my biggest inspiration. She was another realization of my purpose.
I got an opportunity to take the police test… of course I passed the physical portion, but the psychological test? Nope. I thought I was giving them the right answers on what you should do in any given situation, guess not. That was a little discouraging. So I continued working at warehouse jobs. After so long, it became repetitive and my mindset shifted. I couldn’t do it.
Imagining working to retire at 65? Working for other people for that long and not actively living? Nah, I wasn’t having it. Making them rich off my hard work was not the life I envisioned. I couldn’t stand it. I felt like there was 1,001 ways to make income, but that just wasn’t it for me.
Honestly, I was a jack of all trades, but it’s kinda hard when you don’t know which trade to take up. I became semi self employed at the end of 2022. I did hair, I did delivery, I finally took both of my websites more serious (this being my second website), and I was an independent contractor (painter). All of these different income streams allowed me to create my own schedule, while also making time for more important things. I can’t lie, I used to make more than the plant jobs pay in 3-4 days, and still was able to travel.
Eventually, I started sharing my traveling experiences and workout routines on Snapchat for fun at first. But, when I saw how much of an influence I was and how sharing those small glimpses gained me over 5,000 views in a day, I was like damn, I could make this a full-time thing…maybe even make a little money.
Let’s talk about knowledge that actually gets you paid. When I started my journey, I realized so many entrepreneurs and content creators were out here struggling, not because they weren’t talented, but because they didn’t have access to the right resources. So, I created a series of e-books to change that.
My first e-book, Websites You Didn’t Know Exist, was a game-changer for new entrepreneurs, packed with hidden gems to help you start and scale your business. Then came, How To Make Money Online As A Content Creator, where I broke down multiple streams of income for influencers and digital creators looking to secure the bag. Branding Marketing and Advertising laid the foundation for brand growth and building an email list, while Creating Your Business From Scratch, was the ultimate beginner’s guide to launching a business the right way. And if you’ve ever been curious about Affiliate Marketing, I covered exactly how to generate passive income through partnerships.
But I didn’t just stop at building a brand, I wanted to make sure you knew how to run it like a business. In Facebook Ads, I shared the secrets to creating scroll-stopping campaigns, while Structuring Your Business walked you through setting up your legal and operational framework like a boss. Of course, content is queen, so I dropped The Ultimate Content Creation Guide packed with 150+ content ideas to keep your brand fresh and engaging. And for my video creators, Mastering YouTube revealed how to grow a thriving channel and truly connect with your audience.
Fast forward two years later, I finally started selling my e-books to help other solopreneurs. Each book is a guide, a friend, and a mentor all in one, packed with my experiences, tips, and business strategies. Then, I started writing blog posts (79 to be exact), discussing the reality of juggling life, entrepreneurship, and social media. It’s my way of saying, “If I can do it, so can you!”
