Life Lessons as an Accidental Entrepreneur: My Journey to CEO

Life Lessons as an Accidental Entrepreneur: My Journey to CEO

Sooo, I’m spilling a little tea on my journey from plant jobs, to content creator. I’m taking you behind the scenes of my accidental journey to CEO status. Grab you a drinky drink and read how I made the craziest decision that changed everything.

First, let’s talk about my journey from plant jobs to becoming a full-blown digital marketing entrepreneur. From introverted traveler and content creator, to now being an online business owner. It’s going to be some real talk, laughs, and a whole lot of inspiration.

Let me tell y’all, I started out as a content creator with a serious case of introversion. Traveling as an introvert? It’s a trip (pun intended). Crowds? Not my thing. I used to hate crowds, but watching YouTubers inspired me to step out of my shell and share my experiences (we’ll get into that shortly).

I’m not going to lie, I quit my plant job to pursue my passion, definitely didn’t prepare myself. Quitting that last plant job was a bold move, but I was tired of the 6am-4pm. Becoming an entrepreneur? Babyyy, it’s like juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle… exciting, exhilarating, and occasionally terrifying. I got tired of working for other people… letting them tell me when I can get paid or when I can take a break! I felt like a robot doing the same things all day, everyday, year after year. I was mentally counting down the days I was going to quit.

I quit my job with a vision and a prayer, not always sure if I was making the right move. Spoiler alert: I was. I stumbled, I fell, but I also flew higher than ever. And let’s not even talk about the money rollercoaster… lost some, gained some, but always came out wiser!

Before I quit my job at SMP, I was already doing little hobbies here and there. At first, it started as a passion project, a way to escape the depressive plant vibes. I studied people that were doing similar things that I was into, scrolling through their Instagram feeds and dissecting their TikToks. I mean, who knew hashtags and SEO could be so powerful? I always wanted the freedom to travel, hike more, and getting into other interests and hobbies. I didn’t start taking everything serious until that following year.

I started getting on Pinterest and YouTube for inspiration. I’d never been on either app so much in my life until 2023. Can we talk about how slept on Pinterest is? I was like a detective, scrolling through Pinterest learning how to drive traffic. I was pinning inspo left and right. From color palettes to typography, I soaked up every detail like a sponge, turning my sketches into masterpieces.

I got on YouTube and started soaking up editing hacks and lighting tips that turned my videos from amateur to award-worthy. I practically lived on there. It became my virtual mentor, my go-to for everything. I mean, where else can you learn good editing and how to make bomb thumbnails? I found a few people (Jas, Bria, Talitha, Millie and De’arra) who became favorites in the process and started binge-watching their content like it was a Netflix marathon.

Then, life threw me a plot twist, a car accident (a process that lasted 4 months to be exact) that gave me a moment to pause and reflect. In that stillness, I found my purpose. It took me four months to get serious and learn the ropes. All the content I had been creating, I finally started sharing it with the community I built on Snapchat and Instagram.

I started getting more into digital marketing and graphics. I was learning how to market and advertise, how to use Facebook ads, how to really create content and everything in between. I turned all the knowledge I knew, the tips and strategies I’ve learned into e-books. Each e-book was like a love letter to the grind!

Big ups to everyone out there chasing their dreams… because it’s definitely hard! People glamorize being an entrepreneur and make it seem so easy… girl don’t quit that 9-5 without a plan like I did. Starting out as a soloprenuer, I wasn’t always sure where the journey would take me, but I was always positive. You know what I’ve learned? Every stumble, every setback were just pit stops on the road to success.

My goal? To help you boost your wellness and your wallet. So here I am, sharing my journey and hoping to inspire you. So cheers to embracing the hustle, taking risks, and turning passion into profit.
