How to Create Killer UGC Videos for Brands: Advanced UGC Tips

So, I’ve been getting DMs about how to start creating content… faceless content. Let me just say brands love featuring real customers using and enjoying their products in authentic ways. As a creative content creator, you have a major opportunity to team up with brands to produce custom UGC videos.

We talked about the different ways you can make money online as a content creator. We’ve gone over securing opportunities and building successful collaborations, but we didn’t talk much about videography!

Whether you're just starting out in user-generated content or looking to take your videos to the next level, there are some key tips to keep in mind. Let's explore five different types of videos you can create, what to charge, and equipment you'll need. So, grab your camera and let's get started on this creative adventure!

There are so many creative ways to showcase products through video. Here are 5 of my favorite types of UGC product videos to make:

Aesthetic or Product-Focused Videos

One of the most popular types of UGC videos is the aesthetically pleasing or product-focused content. Showcase your artistic flair by capturing stunning visuals of the product in unique settings. Focus on its look and feel. Incorporate visual elements of the product like logos, packaging, etc.

Experiment with angles, lighting, and compositions. Remember, the goal is to create captivating images that leave your viewers in awe.

Problem and Solution Videos

Talk about your problem-solving skills by creating UGC videos that address common consumer pain points. Identify a problem that your audience might face and present your product as the ultimate solution.

Through engaging storytelling, demonstrate how your product can make a positive impact on their lives. This type of video not only promotes your product but also builds trust and credibility among your audience.

Unboxing, Review, or Demonstration Videos

Don't underestimate the power of unboxing videos! Take your viewers on an exciting journey as you unveil a new product. Share your genuine reactions, thoughts, and first impressions. If you're experienced with the product, consider creating review or demonstration videos where you delve deeper into its features and benefits.

Voiceover Highlighting the Product

If you're not comfortable showing your face on camera, that’s okay! You can still create engaging UGC videos by using a voiceover. Let your personality shine through as you provide insightful commentary, highlighting the key aspects of the product.

When creating your video, incorporate elements of the actual product. Explain what makes it useful. Combine it with captivating visuals and texts. Use music in the background that matches the vibe you want to create. The goal is to create a dynamic and immersive experience for your viewers

How-To Videos

Become the go-to expert in your niche by creating informative how-to videos. Teach your audience how to use the product effectively or provide helpful tips and tricks. Break down complex processes into simple steps, ensuring your viewers can easily follow along. Remember to incorporate elements of the product throughout the video, showcasing its versatility and value.

Tips and Tricks for Creating Amazing UGC

  • Research the brand and make sure your content aligns with their tone and values.
  • Research extensively to stay up to date with current trends and audience preferences.
  • Invest in essential equipment like a tripod for stable, smooth shots. Find good lighting like a ring light or LED panels. Invest in a microphone (recommended not needed) to enhance the quality of your videos.
  • Opt for a 4:5 aspect ratio to ensure your videos are optimized for various social media platforms.

Determining Your Worth as a UGC Videographer/ Photographer

Now that you're armed with creative ideas, let's discuss the important matter of pricing your UGC videos. Several factors come into play when determining your worth, such as your skills, experience, usage rights, deliverables and etc.

Before agreeing on a price, have an open conversation with the brand about their intended use of your video. Will it be used organically on their socials or for ads?

Based on this, consider charging around $200/video for beginners in the UGC realm, and around $300/video for ads. Offer package deals for multiple videos. It saves you so much time while curating more money.

Remember to factor in time spent researching the product, creating content, and editing. The key is researching typical rates and finding the sweet spot between earning a fair rate for your work and keeping prices reasonable for brands. Negotiate higher rates for videos that will be used more extensively like in ads or across multiple platforms. Don't undersell yourself! The right brand will appreciate quality work.

Have Fun Creating

Infuse your unique style, warmth, and creativity into every piece of content you create. As you hone your skills and gain experience, your worth as a UGC videographer will grow.

The world of UGC is wide open. Whether you love being on camera or prefer operating behind the scenes, there are so many options to create fun and engaging content. So, go out there, unleash your creativity, and let your videos shine bright in the vast world of UGC!

What types of videos would you be most excited about?
